CBS is bringing back a former member of the Criminal Minds cast. Paget Brewster, who starred as FBI Supervisory Special Agent Emily Prentiss for five seasons between 2006 and 2011, will be reprising her role in the show’s upcoming twelfth season, TVWise has learned.
“We’re excited to have Paget Brewster back for multiple episodes in our 12th season” said Criminal Minds Executive Producer and Showrunner Erica Messer. “The BAU can use more help this year since they’ve got a lot of known and unknown subjects to catch.”
Brewster will not be returning as a series regular, however, and is being billed as a recurring guest star. She will appear in numerous episodes in season 12. Emily Prentiss will make her reappearance early on in the season, re-joining the BAU when they need her most: followin the escape of 13 serial killers.
Additionally, after months of uncertainty it has also been confirmed that Aisha Tyler (Friends) will also be returning next season. Tyler first joined Criminal Minds in season 11 as Dr Tara Lewis, an FBI Special Agent who is drafted into the Behavioral Analysis Unit following the departure of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character Kate Callahan. Adam Rodriguez also recently joined the cast.
Criminal Minds follows the exploits of the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios & CBS Television Studios and stars Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness and Adam Rodriguez. Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Breen Frazier are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios.
