Some four months after the show’s second season debuted, Netflix has officially pulled the trigger on a third season renewal for their first Marvel original series Daredevil.
Daredevil follows Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses and fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Televisionand stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson.
This third season of Daredevil is expected to premiere globally on Netflix in 2017. It is not immediately clear whether or not its will be released before or after the upcoming miniseries The Defenders, which is a team up piece, in a similar vein to The Avengers films, which will bring the leads of Marvel’s four Hells Kitchen series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) together.
The renewal announcement was made yesterday at San Diego Comic Con during the first-ever Netflix and Marvel panel. At said panel, the two companies also released a first look trailer for their fourth Marvel original series Iron Fist starring Finn Jones as Daniel Rand, who returns to New York City after being missing for years. He fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.
