BBC Two has released the first two-teaser images from the upcoming third and final season of the psychological thriller The Fall, which is set to premiere this Autumn.
The two images in question show Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, American Gods) and Jamie Dornan (Once Upon A Time, Fifty Shades Of Grey) in character as Detetective Superintendent Stella Gibson, on secondment to the PSNI from London’s Metropolitan Police Service, and Paul Spector, a serial killer who has been terrorising Belfast, respectively.
The Fall‘s third season is poised to pick up from the season two finale, which saw Spector lay wounded after being shot. In the emotionally charged aftermath of the shooting, Gibson’s personal journey to exact justice for the victims’ families must begin with the blood-soaked fight to keep Spector alive. As the series reaches its inexorable conclusion, it’s clear that the rules of this deadly game of cat and mouse are set to shift once again.
Beyond Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan, returning cast members include Colin Morgan, John Lynch, Valene Kane, Stuart Graham, Gerard McCarthy, Bronagh Waugh and Aisling Francios. Despite hopes it would go otherwise, Archie Panjabi is not returning. Joining the series for its final season is Krister Henriksson (Wallander), Aidan McArdle (Mr Selfridge), Ruth Bradley (Humans), Aisling Bea (Trollied) and Richard Coyle (Crossbones).
The Fall hails from writer, director and showrunner Alan Cubitt and is produced by independent production company Artists Studio. Gub Neal and Carol Moorhead are the series producers; while Patrick Irwin, Justin Thomson-Glover, Alan Cubitt, Gillian Anderson and Stephen Wright serve as executive producers. All three seasons were shot on location in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
