EXCLUSIVE: UKTV is making a stop in Miami. The commercial network has struck a deal with Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution to acquire the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Fox’s hit drama Rosewood for their Alibi channel, TVWise has learned. The show’s 22 episode first season will premiere on Alibi on Tuesday July 26th at 9pm.

Rosewood follows Dr Beaumont Rosewood Jr, the top private pathologist in all of Miami whose eternal optimism will frustrate the cynical female detective he often works with, but she can’t argue with the results that his unique perspective provides. The cast includes Morris Chestnut, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle and Maggie Elizabeth Jones.

The drama series was something of a sleeper hit for Fox last season. Few in the industry expected the procedural from 20th Century Fox Television to be a break-out hit, but, thanks in no small part to being paired with ratings juggernaut Empire, Rosewood managed to defy expectations and attract an audience of more than 7 million viewers in live+3 delivery. It was also one of the highest rated new series launches of the 2015-2016 season.

20th Century Fox Television DistributionThe acquisition of Rosewood, which has been renewed for a second season by Fox, further strengthens the existing relationship between UKTV and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution; with the two having previously pacted together to bring such series as The Last Man On EarthThe GladesWhite Collar and The Strain to UK audiences.

“We are thrilled to be extending our relationship with 20th Century Fox Television and Rosewood is one of their most highly-rated series this season”, said UKTV’s Director of Programme Acquisitions Catherine Mackin, who brokered the deal with Fox. “We are delighted that UKTV is bringing this fantastic series to the UK.”

Rosewood is the latest exclusive acquisition for Alibi, which has been at the forefront of UKTV’s aggressive push into first run U.S. drama. It joins a slate at the channel that also includes Castle, TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles and the ABC thriller Quantico – the latter of which launched back in March to almost half a million viewers, making it the highest rated launch for an acquired series on Alibi since Rizzoli & Isles in September 2011.

“It’s fantastic that this great new US series is coming to Alibi. We’re really pleased with this excellent addition to our growing slate of brilliant new content”, added Adrian Wills, General Manager of Alibi. “It fits really well with all our premium crime dramas, and will definitely appeal to the increasing ranks of Alibi fans.”
