In the wake of the shooting in Orlando, TNT has pushed the two-hour third season premiere of The Last Ship, which was originally scheduled to air tonight.
Sources tell TVWise that TNT execs opted to pull the episode in question as it features a shooting at a Vietnamese night club. The network is expected to announce a new premiere date within the next 7 days.
“As a result of the shootings this weekend in Orlando, tonight’s originally scheduled season premiere of The Last Ship has been postponed”, TNT said in a statement released on Sunday evening. “Our hearts are with the victims and their families.
The shooting in Orlando, Florida, at the LGBT club Pulse left some 53 dead and a further 50 were injured; making it the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history and, per the FBI, the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. The shooter, Omar Mateen, who was suspected by federal authorities of being an ISIS sympathiser, opened fire on club-goers and took hostages at shortly after two am local time. He was later killed in a police operation following a three-hour stand off with authorities.
