Sony Pictures Television Networks’ environmental responsibility campaign is getting its own festival. SPT has announced that a Picture This Festival will be held on the Sony lot in Los Angeles, California, later this year.
Launched in September 2015, the Picture This campaign saw Sony owned channel brands across the globe utilize their channels’ storytelling expertise via on-air and online elements to engage viewers around environmental issues important to each market.
The festival, which is an extension of the campaign, will curate video content up to seven minutes long, which share the stories, big and small, of successful endeavors or actions that could lead to a better, environmentally sound world. The content showcased at the festival will be selected by contests held by eight of Sony Pictures Television Networks’ regions (the UK, Spain and Portugal, Russia, Central Europe, South Africa, Latin America, Asia and the US).
The regional winners will then be flown to Los Angeles, courtesy of festival sponsor American Airlines, where they will enjoy a day of events and a Hollywood screening on the Sony Pictures lot in October. It is at that point that a global winner will be selected, based on the power of their storytelling and their illustration of the Picture This campaign: Picture a Better World. The global winner stands to win a grand prize of $5,000 USD and a Sony 4K package consisting of a 55” 4K TV and a Sony Alpha a6300 Mirrorless Camera, courtesy of Sony Electronics.
“Building upon the efforts of our networks around the world, which have encouraged their audiences to help improve the environment, we are now inviting creators everywhere to tell the stories of a better world, because the best stories are more than entertaining, they also motivate people to action,” said Andy Kaplan, President, of Worldwide Networks for Sony Pictures Television.
