NBC is adding to the cast of Shades Of Blue. Breaking Bad and Gracepoint star Anna Gunn has signed on for a recurring role in the second season of the J. Lo drama, TVWise has learned.
Anna Gunn will play a city Councilwoman on the rise who is primed for a run at the Mayor’s office. A protégée of Wozniak’s, She’s a chameleon who rose up the ranks of the NYPD to Captain and then launched a political career fueled by her charisma and the fact that she is as comfortable at a blue-collar bar as she is at the Governor’s mansion. As the second season progresses, the details of her meteoric rise and her much darker and Machiavellian side comes to the fore.
Shades Of Blue follows Harlee McCord (Jennifer Lopez), a single mother and police officer recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force. Part of a close-knit unit known for its conviction record, Harlee has become compromised by her colleagues — all of whom also pitch in to help raise her daughter — and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.
The drama series was created by Adi Hasak and is set up at Universal Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions, Nuyorican Productions, EGTV and H’s Films. In addition to Lopez, the cast also includes arren Kole (The Following), Drea de Matteo (The Sopranos), Ray Liotta (The League) and Vincent Laresca (24). The executive producers are Jennifer Lopez, Nina Wass, Jack Orman, Ryan Seacrest, Adi Hasak, Elaine Goldsmith, Benny Medina and Barry Levinson.
