Freeform is adding to their executive ranks. Jana Steele Helman has joined the Disney owned cable network as Vice-President of Programming and Development, TVWise has learned.
In that role, Helman will be responsible for directing the development of scripted drama and comedy series. She will help identify and grow the unique, compelling and brand-appropriate ideas for scripted content.
“Jana is a fantastic executive with a great eye for material and talent”, said Freeform’s Senior Vice-President of Original Programming & Development Simran S. Sethi, to whom Jana Steele Helman will report,. “She truly loves our audience, plus she’s a delight to hang out with. This is going to be great”.
Jana Steele Helman joins Freeform from Warner Bros. Television, where she began as an assistant before rising through the ranks to ultimately become Director of Comedy Development. In her time at the studio, she worked on such series as Two Broke Girls, Undateable, Selfie; as well as the recently picked up Powerless, Trial and Error and Green Eggs and Ham.
