WestworldAfter months of teasing the show, HBO has now released a full trailer for their new drama series Westworld, which hails from JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot Productions banner.

Westworld is set in an amusement park and is described as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin. The all star cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan and Simon Quarterman.

HBO’s adaptation of Westworld was penned by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, who also directed the pilot. It is being produced by Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions and Kilter Films in association with Warner Bros. Television; with Lisa Joy, Jonathan Nolan, JJ Abrams, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk serving as executive producers.

The series, which has been hailed as being “extremely ambitious”, has had its fair share of problems. Production was shut down in early January to allow Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy enough time to finish penning the final four scripts from the initial ten episode order. There was also some controversy over a casting consent form, which required extras to engage in “simulated sex acts”. Westworld will premiere later this year on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK later this year.
