CBS is adding to the cast of Criminal Minds following the recent departure of original cast member Shemar Moore.
Adam Rodriguez, who starred in all ten seasons of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spin-off CSI Miami as Eric Delko, has signed on as a series regular for the upcoming twelfth season of the long-running procedural, TVWise has learned.
“We’re all big fans of Adam’s and are excited to welcome him back to the CBS family as part of the terrific cast of Criminal Minds”, Glenn Geller, President of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement.
The actor, whose more recent credits include Jane The Virgin and Empire, will play a senior FBI Special Agent who is a member of the Bureau’s Fugitive Task Force, before subsequently joining the Behavioral Analysis Unit. The character will be introduced in the season premiere.
“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Adam Rodriguez to our amazing cast”, added executive producer and showrunner Erica Messer. “We have exciting storylines planned for his character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 12th season.”
Criminal Minds, from CBS Television Studios and ABC Studios, revolves around the FBI’s elite Behavioral Analysis Unit who roam the United States to assist local law enforcement track down serial killers and other serious criminal offenders. Returning cast members include Thomas Gibson, Matthew Gray Gubler, A. J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness and Joe Mantegna.
