Amazon’s ‘Mozart In The Jungle’ Adds Monica Bellucci In Guest Starring Role

Monica BellucciSpectre star Monica Bellucci has booked a guest starring role on the upcoming third season of Amazon’s drama series Mozart In The Jungle, TVWise has learned.

Bellucci will play Alessandra, an iconic opera star who will become Rodrigo’s (Gael Garcia Bernal) next great collaborator. She is as famous for her passionate performances as she is for her erratic life off the stage. After years away from the spotlight, she enlists Rodrigo to conduct her grand return performance.

This is the second major U.S. TV role for the Italian actress, who has been very active in her homeland but is perhaps best known to international audiences for playing Lucia in the latest Bond feature film. Bellucci also recently filmed a guest starring on Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival, which is currently in post and is being eyed for a 2017 premiere.

Penned by Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Alex Timbers, Mozart In The Jungle is all about sex, drugs and classical music and shows that what happens behind the curtains at the symphony can be just as captivating as what happens on stage. The comedy stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Saffron Burrows, Lola Kirke, Malcom McDowell and Bernadette Peters. The executive producers are Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman and Paul Weitz.

The show’s ten episode third season will continue the story of the talented musicians who perform and live with passion under the baton of their spirited conductor Rodrigo. This season will follow Rodrigo and his many musicians as they bring their talents to Europe. Production on the new season is set to commence later this month for a 2017 premiere on Amazon Prime Video in the US, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Japan.

The show is actually a half hour long each episode. At least it has been so far. It’s a fantastic show!
