Sky Atlantic has given the green-light to Robin’s Test, a six episode comedy series about a camping trip in Dorset which hails from Hunderby creator and star Julia Davis and Steve Coogan’s independent production company Baby Cow Productions, TVWise has learned.
Robin’s Test tells the story of a group of couples on a birthday camping trip to Dorset. The carefully planned weekend quickly unravels once party girl Fay (Davis) arrives with the newly separated Tom and the holiday takes on a whole new direction. Rufus Jones, Vicki Pepperdine, Steve Pemberton, Jonathan Cake, Liz Berrington and David Bamber also star.
“Known for grown-up storytelling and working with the best in the industry, Sky Atlantic is the perfect home for Julia Davis’s sublime work”, said Sky Atlantic Director Zai Bennett, who commissioned the series alongside former Head of Comedy Lucy Lumsden. “Alongside drama Sky Atlantic is investing in top flight, cinematic quality comedy and Julia’s new series is a great way to start the next year”
In addition to starring, Julia Davis also created the comedy and penned the scripts for the series, which is being produced by Baby Cow Productions. The project brings her back to the Sky Atlantic fold, after she recently wrote and starred in a Hunderby special for the channel. “I am very, very excited to be making another series for Sky Atlantic thanks to the great creative freedom and support of Zai Bennett and Lucy Lumsden”.
