HBO has unveiled a new teaser trailer for the upcoming sixth season of Game Of Thrones, which is set to premiere in April on HBO in the U.S. and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years, and only the lust for power is eternal. The series is a production of HBO Originals, with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield serving as executive producers.
The sixth season of Game Of Thrones is poised to pick up from the season five finale which saw Queen Mother Cersei Lannister publicly shamed by the Sparrow, vowing to seek revenge on the religious cult; Myrcella Baratheon murdered in Dorne as an act of retribution for the death of Oberyn Martell; and Daenerys Targaryen stranded and surrounded by Dothraki under the command of a rival Khal.
The teaser trailer, which runs some 40 seconds, shows the scene from the season five finale in which Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) was supposedly killed with an ominous voice-over which ends with the line “They have no idea what is going to happen”. After initially declining to comment on speculation that Jon Snow survived his encounter with the brothers of the Night’s Watch, HBO has since embraced the rumour to market the new season, first in the teaser poster released last month and now in this new trailer.
