HBO has released the poster for the sixth season of ratings juggernaut Game Of Thrones, which is set to premiere on the premium cable network next April.
Based on the bestselling fantasy book series by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is an epic story of treachery and nobility set on the continent of Westeros, where summers and winters can last years, and only the lust for power is eternal. The series is a production of HBO Originals, with David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield serving as executive producers.
Eyed for an April debut on HBO in the U.S. and Sky Atlantic in the UK, the sixth season of Game Of Thrones is poised to pick up from the season five finale which saw Queen Mother Cersei Lannister publicly shamed by the Sparrow, vowing to seek revenge on the religious cult; Myrcella Baratheon murdered in Dorne as an act of retribution for the death of Oberyn Martell; and Daenerys Targaryen stranded and surrounded by Dothraki under the command of a rival Khal.
The poster – which is sure to drive Game Of Thrones fans into a frenzy – shows a bloodied Jon Snow, promoting more questions as to whether or not the fan favourite chaaracter played by Kit Harrington is alive or if he was in fact killed in the season five finale. Rumours have been running rampant for months that the character would survive and show up once again in season six, has HBO tipped their hand?
