E4’s long-gestating sci-fi drama Tripped will premiere on Tuesday December 8th at 10pm, it has been announced.
Tripped tells the story Danny, an average 24-year-old who has been friends with stoner Milo since they were kids. But then Danny decides it’s time to grow up, settle down and marry long-term girlfriend Kate, whereas Milo continues to focus on getting high. One night after Milo has taken a strong batch of hallucinogens, Danny appears carrying a sword claiming to be from another dimension.
The duo suddenly themselves transported to a parallel universe where they encounter different versions of themselves, the pair soon realise dangerous assassins seem intent on hunting them down and killing them. With Danny desperate to get back to his own Kate before it’s too late and he loses her forever, they embark on a series of darkly comic and dangerous adventures in an effort to get back home.
Penned by Doctor Who scribe Jamie Mathieson, the four episode series is being produced by Endeavour indie Mammoth Screen and Jack and Harry Williams’ Two Brother Pictures. The cast is being led by Blake Harrison (The Inbetweeners) and also includes newcomer George Webster, Georgina Campbell (The Ark) and Richard Gadd. The executive producers are Jack Williams, Harry Williams, Preethi Mavahalli and Damien Timmer. Jamie Stone is the director.
