Watch’s latest high-profile U.S. drama acquisition is getting a major advertising push.
Parent company UKTV is to roll out a promo for the Marica Gay Harden fronted medical drama Code Black across all ten of their channels and on-demand platform UKTV Play, TVWise has learned.
This marks the first time that UKTV has road-blocked a promo, as a billed programme no less, across all ten of their linear channels (Alibi, Dave, Watch, Gold, Good Food, Home, Really, Yesterday, Drama and Eden), VOD service UKTV Play and various social-media platforms including Twitter and Facebook.
The Code Black promo, which runs some five minutes, was cut by UKTV’s in-house creative team and will be rolled out on Thursday October 22nd at 9pm – exactly one week before the CBS drama is set to premiere on Watch.
UKTV acquired the medical drama earlier this year in a big three-series deal with Disney Media Distribution, which also saw the broadcaster acquire exclusive rights to Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders and Quantico. Arguably it was the most significant deal that UKTV has sealed since they started acquiring first window on U.S. series several years ago and is a major coup as several other UK broadcasters were chasing the aforementioned series.
From Michael Seitzman and ABC Studios, Code Black is set in the busiest and most notorious ER in the nation where the extraordinary staff struggle in the face of a broken system to protect their ideals and the patients who need them the most. The cast includes Marcia Gay Harden, Bonnie Somerville, Raza Jaffrey, Luis Guzman, Melanie Kannokada, Harry M. Ford, Ben Hollingsworth and William Allen Young.
