TV Land has locked down their schedule for the New Year.
The Viacom owned network has announced that the second season of their single camera comedy series Younger – which was just acquired for UK broadcast by Sony Entertainment Television – will premiere on Tuesday January 12th at 10/9c with a double-bill; while new comedy series Teachers will follows on Tuesday January 12th at 11/10c, before segueing to its regular 10:30pm time-slot the following week.
“Younger and Teachers represent two very different sides of the new, smarter and edgier TV Land,” said Keith Cox, Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming for TV Land. “Season 2 of Younge’ brings even more witty, sexy and cliffhanger moments and Teachers is hilariously bizarre, pushing the envelope and bringing the network into new comedic territory.”
Created by Darren Starr, Younger follows Liza, a 40-year old woman who pretends to be 26 in order to get a job in the highly competitive world of publishing – and succeeds. Now working under the prickly Diana, Liza has to figure out how to balance her real life with bestie Maggie, and her “pretend” life with new friend and coworker Kelsey…all while embarking on an exciting and somewhat confusing relationship with sexy tattoo artist Josh. The comedy series stars Sutton Foster (Bunheads), Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire), Debi Mazar (Entourage), Miriam Shor (GCB) and Nico Tortorella (The Following).
Based on the web series of the same name, Teachers revolves around six Elementary school teachers who are trying to mold the minds and lives of America’s youth, even though they don’t really seem to have their own lives together at all. From refusing to read fairytales because “sometimes Prince Charming wants to date other people” to hitting on the resident “hot dad,” these teachers are certainly changing the world, one student at a time. The series stars improv group The Katydids – Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas – who also wrote and starred in the web series. They also serve as executive producers alongside showrunners Ian Roberts and Jay Martel.
