Murder In The First and The West Wing alum Taye Diggs has landed a recurring role on Fox’s freshman drama series Rosewood, TVWise has learned.
Diggs will play Dr. Mike Boyce, a world-renowned infectious disease doctor based in Miami and the longtime best friend of Dr. Beaumont Rosewood, who is brought in to consult on a case and catches the eye of Detective Villa, much to Rosewood’s surprise.
This marks a reunion of sorts between Taye Diggs and series lead Morris Chestnut, after the two previously starred together in feature films The Best Man and The Best Man Holiday. Diggs’ first episode of Rosewood is expected to air in November. His numerous other TV credits include The Good Wife, Kevin Hill, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice.
Rosewood follows Dr Beaumont Rosewood Jr, the top private pathologist in all of Miami. whose eternal optimism will frustrate the cynical female detective he often works with, but she can’t argue with the results that his unique perspective provides. The drama series is being produced 20th Century Fox Television and stars Morris Chestnut, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Gabrielle Dennis, Anna Konkle and Maggie Elizabeth Jones. The series has been something of a sleeper hit for Fox and just earned an order for 3 additional scripts.
