It’s Official: Sony Entertainment Television Acquires ‘Younger’ & ‘Hot In Cleveland’ Season 6

YoungerEarlier this month TVWise broke the news that Sony Entertainment Television had acquired the UK rights to TV Land’s new single-camera comedy series Younger and the final season of Hot In Cleveland in a deal with Endemol Shine International. The broadcaster confirmed that today by formally announcing both pick-ups.

Younger follows Liza, a 40-year old woman who pretends to be 26 in order to get a job in the highly competitive world of publishing – and succeeds. Now working under the prickly Diana, Liza has to figure out how to balance her real life with bestie Maggie, and her “pretend” life with new friend and coworker Kelsey…all while embarking on an exciting and somewhat confusing relationship with sexy tattoo artist Josh.

From Sex And The City creator Darren Star, the comedy series is produced by Darren Star Productions and stars Sutton Foster (Bunheads), Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire), Debi Mazar (Entourage), Miriam Shor (GCB) and Nico Tortorella (The Following). TV Land has already renewed Younger for a twelve episode second season set to air in 2016. The executive producers are Darren Star, Larry W. Jones, Keith Cox and Tony Hernandez

Hot In Cleveland FinaleHot In Cleveland revolves around three best friends from the LA entertainment industry whose lives are changed forever when their plane, which was headed for Paris, unexpectedly lands in Cleveland. Finding themselves in this new promised land and loving their new home, the women find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented. The series stars Betty White, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and Valerie Bertinelli.

Both series will debut in November and are being paired on Sony Entertainment Television’s schedule to create a Wednesday night comedy block. They are the latest first run U.S. acquisitions for the Sony backed channel following in the footsteps of CommunitySerangoon RoadFranklin & BashGhost Hunters and the first season of the USA Network drama series Satisfaction, which is presently airing in the Wednesday night 9pm time-slot.
