The second season of FX’s geo-political thriller Tyrant will receive its UK premiere on FOX UK on Wednesday November 4th at 9pm, it has been announced.
From Homeland‘s Gideon Raff & Howard Gordon, Tyrant tells the story of Bassam “Barry” Al Fayeed, the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation, who ends a self-imposed 20-year exile to return to his homeland, accompanied by his American wife and children, for his nephew’s wedding. Barry’s reluctant homecoming leads to a dramatic clash of cultures as he is thrown back into the familial and national politics of his youth. The drama series is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions and stars Adam Rayner, Jennifer Finnigan, Ashraf Barhom, Moran Atias, Noah Silver, Anne Winters, Fares Fares, Salim Daw, Justin Kirk, Jordana Spiro, Mehdi Dehbi and Alice Krige.
The show’s twelve episode second season picks up from the events depicted in the season one finale, in which Barry colluded with members of the U.S. government in a failed attempt to overthrowing his brother Jamal’s tyrannical reign and was arrested on charges of treason. Having been betrayed by the West, Jamal now sets his sights on the East, developing an alliance with China that he hopes will make Abbudin a global power. But Barry continues to be a thorn in Jamal’s side, becoming a symbol of freedom for the increasingly vocal insurgency.
