Fox has released the key art and a series of six first look images for their upcoming The X-Files Revival, which is set to premiere on the network with a two-night event across Sunday January 24th and Monday January 25th.
From series creator Chris Carter, The X-Files Revival is envisioned as a follow up to the original nine season series & both feature films and follows FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully, as they investigate unexplained cases – known within the agency as “X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.
David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are reprising their roles as FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully, while other returning cast members include Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis, Annabeth Gish, Dean Haglund, Bruce Harwood and Tom Braidwood. Joining the cast for the revival are Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby, Aliza Vellani and Kumail Nanjiani.
Ten Thirteen Productions and 20th Century Fox Television are producing, with Carter and Glen Morgan serving as executive producers. The duo also serve as writers and directors alongside Darin Morgan and James Wong. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully investigate a possible alien abduction at the behest of conservative news anchor Tad O’Malley (McHale) which leads them to Sveta (Mahendru).
The key art shows a silhouette of CGB Spender/Cigarette Smoking Man; while the six images show FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully, Mulder and Scully meeting with Tad O’Malley, and Special Agent Scully in a Doctor’s coat as she examines Sveta.
