TNT is adding to their development slate with a pilot order for Robbers, an hour-long crime drama which is based on the Christopher Cook novel of the same name which hails from Sony Pictures Television, author Christopher Cook and Michael Dinner.
Robbers tells the story of two “running buddies” on a crime spree across Texas, the cop chasing them and the girl who is the complication. Everyone has a story. Everyone is a mystery. The project, which has been in the works at TNT since May, originally had Tim McGraw attached to star, but has since exited.
Original author Christopher Cook and Michael Dinner are penning the script for the pilot, which is described as being in the same vein as Elmore Leonard’s Justified and No Country For Old Men. Sony Pictures Television and Timberman/Beverly are producing, with Michael Dinner, Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly serving as executive producers. Cook will co-executive produce.
The official pilot order for Robbers comes less than 24 hours after TNT dropped the axe on the Kyra Sedgwick Proof after just one season. It joins a pilot slate at TNT which includes Jerry Bruckheimer’s Home, Michelle Dockery vehicle Good Behaviour, feature film reboot Animal Kingdom, an untitled drug trade drama and comic book adaptation Titans.
