ITV Sets Premiere Date For ‘Midwinter Of The Spirit’

Midwinter Of The SpiritITV’s three-part supernatural drama series Midwinter Of The Spirit will receive its UK premiere on Wednesday September 23rd at 9pm, it has been announced.

Midwinter Of The Spirit follows country vicar Merrily Watkins, who just happens to be one of the few women priests working as an exorcist. When a man is found murdered by crucifixion, the police, aware of her knowledge of the paranormal underworld, turn to the Vicar for assistance. Before long Merilly is convinced Satanists are behind the crime and the investigation takes them into a very dark and dangerous world.

Originally commissioned for ITV Encore before being moved over to the main channel, Midwinter Of The Spirit is based on the series of Merrily Watkins novels by Phil Rickman (which began with The Wine of Angels in 1998) and was developed for television by BAFTA winning screenwriter Stephen Volk. The drama series is produce for ITV Studios and stars Anna Maxwell Martin (The Bletchley Circle), David Threlfall (Code of a Killer), Siobhan Finneran (Benidorm), Ben Bailey Smith (Law & Order: UK), Leila Mimmack (Home Fires), Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones), Simon Trinder (Without You), Oengus MacNamara (What If) and David Sterne (Hunted).
