FOX UK is bringing back Peggy Carter.

The Fox International Channels backed channel has picked up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the second season of ABC’s drama series Marvel’s Agent Carter after reaching a deal with international distributor Disney Media Distribution, TVWise has learned. FOX UK is fast-tracking the second season and will air it close behind the US broadcast on ABC in early 2016.

The acquisition of the show’s second season comes shortly after season one wrapped its run on FOX UK. Across its eight episode freshman season, Agent Carter quickly established itself as a ratings hit for the channel, averaging a consolidated audience of some 900k viewers; making it Fox third highest rated series behind The Walking Dead and NCIS. It joins a slate of returning series on FOX UK that includes NCIS, The Walking Dead, American Horror Story and Tyrant.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter was a ratings smash for FOX UK, with a million people tuning in to Peggy Carter’s adventures on launch”, said Jeff Ford, Managing Director of FOX International Channels UK. “We’re thrilled to bring the season 2 premiere to UK fans and can’t wait to see what’s in-store for the feisty and fearless heroine.”

Marvel’s Agent Carter is set in the 1940s and follows Agent Carter, the character from Captain America and Captain America: Winter Solider, as she undertakes missions for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) at the behest of Howard Stark in New York. The first season of the Marvel and ABC Studios produced series starred Hayley Atwell, James D’Arcy, Chad Michael Murray, Enver Gjokaj, Dominic Cooper and Shea Whigham.

The second season finds Peggy Carter, dedicated to the fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II, journey from New York City to Los Angeles for her most dangerous assignment yet. But even as she discovers new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love — she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect.
