Fox International Channels UK are gearing up to launch a new FTA channel.
The company, who operate such channel brands as FOX UK and National Geographic here in the UK, has announced plans to launch free-to-air entertainment channel YourTV. The channel will be available on a range of platforms and will launch on Thursday October 1st at 1pm.
YourTV is primarily focused at a female audience and will air a wide range of content across both scripted and non-scripted. Content lined up for the launch includes CBS’ James Wood fronted legal drama Shark, which originally aired between 2006 and 2008; real-crime series Corrupt Crimes; Don’t Tell The Bride; and cookery programme Baking Good Baking Bad. FIC UK also said that the channel will operate a 20 hour schedule, from 7am to 3am, every day.
Notably, YourTV is the first free-to-air channel for Fox International Channels UK, who have been exploring the possibility of launching new channel brands in the UK since former Channel 5 programming boss Jeff Ford was named Managing Director in April.
“I am thrilled to announce the launch of YourTV, our first Free To Air channel and exciting next step in the evolution of our UK brand portfolio”, said Jeff Ford, Managing-Director of Fox International Channels UK. “Providing a daily treat of compelling scripted and unscripted series for viewers, YourTV is a fresh new destination for entertainment.”
The launch of YourTV is set to, once again, up the competition in the female-skewing space here in the UK. Sky Living was once a major force in this space, but since the channel moved towards a gender neutral position, TLC UK and Lifetime UK and ITVBe have been jockeying for prime position.
