Comedy Central UK Acquires ‘The Daily Show With Trevor Noah’

Trevor NoahComedy Central UK is bringing back The Daily Show.

After quietly dropping The Daily Show With Jon Stewart earlier this year, the Viacom International Media Networks backed channel has acquired the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to the new series of the show, fronted by comedian Trevor Noah.

The Daily Show will largely retain its format under new host Trevor Noah and as such will continue its coverage of the day’s news and events with the incisive and insightful humor of Noah and the incredibly talented roster of correspondents including Jordan Klepper, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvi, Hasan Minhaj, Jessica Williams, Lewis Black, John Hodgman, and Kristen Schaal.

The decision to effectively reverse course and acquire the new iteration of The Daily Show comes as Comedy Central UK has been stocking up on content for the year(s) ahead. The channel recently renewed their deal with Warner Bros. for Friends and acquired NBC comedy Undateable; while, in a separate deal, they also picked up numerous seasons of Fox’s animated comedy Bob’s Burgers.

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah will premiere on Comedy Central UK on Tuesday September 29th at 11pm – less than 24 hours behind the series’ launch on the US Comedy Central network.

    Hoping for uncensored version too…..

This is good news, although it’s criminal that we never got to see the last Jon Stewart shows.

Great to have back but why axe in first place on one of the great iconic TV shows produced by errr Comedy Central. they should repeat the ones axed. Popeye i think we just get an uncensored international version shown abroad not domestically.
