Arrow Media is adding to their senior team.
The independent production company, known for their documentary and factual output, has hired Endemol Shine’s Oliver Wright to serve as their inaugural Head of Features, as they look to enter the space for the first time after producing a wealth of factual content for UK, US and international broadcasters.
Wright, who served as Executive Producer for Endemol Shine UK, will report directly to Arrow Media’s Joint Founders and Creative Directors Tom Brisley and John Smithson. The indie said that his appointment would help fuel the company’s ambitions and success, and build upon its ability to deliver mainstream topics in an innovative and compelling way.
“We are going through a very interesting and exciting time at Arrow. We have had great success in providing compelling and innovative factual content for UK, US and international broadcasters”, said Arrow Media’s Joint Founders and Creative Directors Tom Brisley and John Smithson.
“So a move into features seemed like a natural fit for us, especially as broadcasters in both the UK and US start to look more and more to cross genre commissions. We are delighted to welcome Oliver on board and have no doubt that with his stellar features track record and experience, we will be able to take Arrow to the next level and build upon our success”, they added.
“I am delighted to be joining Arrow. The team here have made some of my all time favourite documentaries and factual series”, added Wright. “So to be joining the company at a moment of expansion and bring my features sensibility to the table feels like a perfect fit.”
He got his start in the industry producing and directing segments for a variety of US tabloid news and entertainment series that aired globally. Following that, Wright worked across a wide range of documentary, feature and reality series including Embarrassing Bodies, Supersize vs Superskinny, Daniella Westbrook: Eastenders, Drugs and My New Nose and Make Me Perfect. He also co-created Channel 4’s ratings hit Bodyshockers.
Elsewhere, Arrow Media has also hired former ex-Optomen Television exec James McGregor to serve as Head of Legal and Commercial Affairs. In the newly created role, McGregor will be responsible for overseeing the company’s legal strategies and relationships, and helping to develop its wider commercial interests and exploitation. The exec, who held similar roles at Optomen, Zodiak Media and the BBC, will report to Arrow Media’s co-founder and Managing Director Iain Pelling.
