Turner Broadcasting has poached Viacom International Media Networks executive Vanessa Brookman to serve as Vice President of Content & Creative, UK and Northern Europe – a role that will see her lead content strategy across Turner’s kids and general entertainment channels in the UK, Nordic and Baltic countries.
Brookman will be responsible for channels, digital, creative and presentation teams of around 50 people, setting the creative agenda and ensuring programming is market leading and output is packaged in engaging and compelling ways. Channel brands under her purview include TCM, TruTV, Cartoon Network and Boomerang.
She will be based out of Turner’s London office and will report to Ian McDonough Turner’s Senior Vice-President and Managing-Director, UK & Northern Europe. Brookman joins Turner from VIMN, where she served as Vice-President of Programming for MTV and 5*. Prior to joining Viacom, she served as Head of Fiction and Children’s at BBC Vision.
McDonough says: “This follows our recent hire of Dan Fahy as Senior Director of Commercial Development – and demonstrates our commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent”, said McDonough. “The newly created VP Content and Creative role also exemplifies our commitment to acquiring and developing the best content for our channels and I am confident that Vanessa’s great track record and experience will be a critical asset. Our business is poised for future growth.”
