Cinemax is adding six actors to the cast of Outcast.
Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Catherine Dent (Gang Related), Lee Tergesen (Defiance), Grace Zabriskie (Big Love) and Melinda McGraw (State Of Affairs) have been tapped to recurring roles on the eight episode exorcism series from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. David Denman (The Office) has also boarded as a regular.
Created by Robert Kirkman, Outcast follows Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. The main cast includes Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl), Gabriel Bateman (Stalker) and Philip Glenister (From There To Here).
Brent Spiner has been cast as Sidney, who appears in Rome soon after Kyle and Reverend Anderson successfully exorcize little Joshua Austin; Catherine Dent as Janet Anderson, the ex-wife of Reverend Anderson; Lee Tergesen as Blake Morrow, a former police officer on death row for murdering his partner’s wife; David Denman as Mark Holter, who is married to Kyle’s sister; and Grace Zabriskie as Mildred,one of the old guard at Anderson’s church.
Outcast was developed internally at Fox International Channels, who have a long relationship with Kirkman owing to the fact that they serve as the global broadcaster for The Walking Dead. The company’s production division Fox International Studios is producing in association with Robert Kirkman’s Skydance Productions. The executive producers are Robert Kirkman, Sharon Tal Yguado and David Alpert. Chris Black is the showrunner.
Production on Outcast is now underway for a 2016 premiere on Cinemax in the US and FOX in the UK.
