Safe House is set in the lake district and tells the story of a married couple, Robert and Katy, who are asked by close friend and police officer Mark to turn their remote guest house into a safe house. Their first ‘guests’ at the Safe House, are a family in fear of their lives after they are violently attacked by someone who claims to know them.
The four-parter, which is envisioned as a “potential returnable series”, is the first scripted project to be originated and developed by Eleventh Hour Films and was created by Michael Crompton. The cast includes Christopher Eccleston (The Leftovers), Marsha Thomason (White Collar), Paterson Joseph (Law & Order: UK), Jason Merrells (Emmerdale), Nicola Stephenson (All At Sea), and Peter Ferdinando (Doctor Who). The executive producers are Paula Cuddy and Jill Green.
“Safe House sees Christopher Eccleston lead a stellar cast of internationally renowned talent in this fresh and contemporary take on the investigative crime genre”, said Peter Grant, All3Media’s Senior Vice-President of Sales. “We knew this sophisticated ‘event’ thriller would play out well with our international broadcasters and are delighted to announce such a strong line-up of deals already in place, with our partners such as France 3 and ZDF. The drama made its UK debut to great reviews and a huge 5.6 million primetime viewers, which has only fuelled demand from the global market”.
