A+E Networks UK has poached Sky exec Adrian Pilkington to serve in the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Distribution and Strategy.
Pilkington will report to A+E Networks UK’s recently appointed COO Nicolas Eglau and will take up post on September 1st. In his newly created role, he will be responsible for developing A+E Networks UK’s high-growth corporate strategy. Pilkington will also oversee the strategic planning and execution of branded channel and digital distribution across the UK, Nordic, the Benelux and CEEMEA.
The exec joins from Sky, where he served as Director of Partner Channels for the past five years. He was responsible for Sky’s successful commercial partnerships with over 60 retailed channels, fronting strategic initiatives such as Sky’s HD, Sky Go, and more recently the NOW TV partner channel launch program.
“I’m delighted to be joining the A+E Networks UK management team at such an exciting time”, said Pilkington. “The company has raised its ambitions across all territories and it’s a privilege to be part of this new challenge”.
The hire of Pilkington is the latest move that A+E Networks UK has made in the last month, following the departure of Tom Davidson as MD. Other such changes have seen Dean Possenniskie take the reins at A+E Networks UK, while Heather Jones was promoted to SVP of Creative and Content. Additionally, as noted above, RTL’s Nicolas Eglau recently came on board as COO.
“We are continuing to build a first class management team at A+E Networks UK to drive the growth of our brands and business,” said Dean Possenniskie, Managing Director, EMEA for A+E Networks. “Distribution and Strategy is a key element to our future success and growth plans, and I am delighted to bring an executive of Adrian’s calibre and experience to lead this area of our business.”
