ABC Family has renewed their drama series Young & Hungry for a third season, TVWise has learned. In keeping with policy, the network has not yet specified the size of the order for the show’s third season, which is eyed for a 2016 premiere.
Young & Hungry is a comedy series where two worlds collide when Josh, a wealthy young entrepreneur, hires feisty blogger Gabi to be his personal chef. The series is produced by CBS Television Studios and stars Emily Osment, Jonathan Sadowski, Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley, and Rex Lee. The executive producers are David Holden, Ashley Tisdale, Jessica Rhoades, Caryn Lucas, and Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum.
The series has been something of a hit for ABC Family ever since it premiered last Summer. The show’s second season ranked as cable’s No. 1 original series in its Wednesday-at-8 timeslot among adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and key female demos; while the midseason finale set a series high in adults 18-49 and delivered its #2 telecast of all time in A18-34.
“We are so proud of how ‘Young & Hungry’ grew during its second season: it ranked as cable’s number one original series in its timeslot in key demos,” said Karey Burke, Executive Vice President of Programming and Development, for ABC Family. “We can’t wait to see what is next for this talented ensemble.”
