Toks OlagundoyeABC is adding to the cast of Castle. The Neighbors star Toks Olagundoye has joined the cast of the long-running procedural as a series regular for its upcoming eighth season, TVWise has learned.

Created by Andrew Marlowe, Castle follows best selling author Richard Castle who, under a prior agreement with the NYPD to observe and assist a detective squad, works alongside Detective Kate Beckett to solve some of the city’s strangest crimes. The drama series is produced by ABC Studios and stars Nathan Fillion, Stana Katic, Susan Sullivan, Molly Quinn, Jon Huertas, Tamala Jones and Seamus Dever.

Olagundoye, who played Jackie Joyner-Kersee on both seasons of Dan Fogelman’s ABC comedy The Neighbors, will play Hayley, a quick-witted, free-spirited former Scotland Yard police officer who works as a security specialist and isn’t afraid to cross lines to get things done.

Her casting comes at a time of change for Castle, which is undergoing something of a creative shakeup this season under newly appointed showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter. That creative change has already led to the exit of Penny Johnson Jerald, who has since been vocal about the fact that she was effectively fired rather than choosing to exit the show.
