Robbie Amell & Lauren Ambrose Join Fox’s ‘X-Files’ Revival

Amell-AmbroseRobbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) and Lauren Ambrose (Dig) have joined the cast of Fox’s six episode The X-Files revival in guest-starring roles, TVWise has learned.

The two will play a pair of new FBI agents, with Amell taking on the role of the smart and smooth Special Agent Miller, while Ambrose will play the sharp and confident Special Agent Einstein.

From series creator Chris Carter, The X-Files Revival is envisioned as a follow up to the original nine season series and both feature films. Original cast members David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are back as Mulder and Scully; while Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis are also reprising their roles as Assistant Director Walter Skinner and CGB Spender/The Cigarette Smoking Man.

Amell and Ambrose are the latest additions to an already impressive guest cast for the six episode revival. Other guest star Community’s Joel McHale as Mulder’s ally and conservative news anchor Tad O’Malley; The American‘s star Annet Mahendru as Sveta; Rhys Darby as a man Mulder suspects in a series of what appear to be animal attacks; and iZombie alum Aliza Vellani in an as-yet undisclosed role. More recently Silicon Valley‘s Kumail Nanjiani also filmed a guest role on the revival.

The X-Files will premiere on Fox on Sunday January 24th, following the NFC Championship Game. Though it has yet to land a UK broadcaster, several buyers are currently circling the revived series, which is being shopped on the international market Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

Robbie Amell would develop better as an actor with his own show, but time will tell as the competition for action heroes is serious at the moment.
