The second season of Hallmark’s original series When Calls The Heart will receive its UK premiere on the NBCUniversal owned Movies 24 on Sunday August 16th at 5pm, it has been announced.
Based on the novel of the same name by Janette Oke, When Calls The Heart is set in a 19th century Canadian coal town and followsElizabeth, a young teacher accustomed to her high society life who receives her first classroom post in a small prairie town in the Western Frontier. She must deal with her restless students as well as the new Constable in town, Jack Thornton. Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west. The drama series is produced by Believe Pictures & Brad Krevoy Television and stars Daniel Lissing, Erin Krakow and Lori Loughlin.
In the opening episode of the show’s second season, titled Trials Of The Heart, Elizabeth and Jack are closer than ever after their first kiss, but their budding union barely has time to begin when Elizabeth receives a distressing telegram from home requesting her return. As Jack gains a new understanding of Elizabeth’s high-society family life, Abigail remains in Coal Valley where she nervously awaits the mining disaster trial, and finally confronts investigator Bill Avery about a shocking discovery that could put their own romantic future on hold. Hallmark has yet to renew the series for a third season.
