CBS is continuing the cast shake-up on The Good Wife.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Supernatural) has boarded the legal drama as a series regular for its upcoming seventh season and will be something of a replacement for Archie Panjabi, who exited the show last season.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is currently starring on the second season of CBS’ Halle Berry starrer Extant, will play Alex, a calm, experienced hourly investigator whom Alicia (Julianna Margulies) hires for her fledgling law firm.
“We’ve loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years, and we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe,” said executive producers Robert and Michelle King.
He joins the cast on the heels of Matthew Goode, who played Finn Polmar in the last two seasons, exiting as a regular. Additionally, Makenzie Vega, who plays Alicia’s daughter Grace, has been downgraded to recurring status for the new season. With the changes the core cast has dwindled down to six: Julianna Margulies, Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Alan Cumming, Zach Grenier and Chris Noth.
