Fox has debuted the first glimpse of their upcoming six episode The X-Files revival, which premieres on January 24th and just cast How To Be A Gentleman star Rhys Darby in a guest starring role.
From series creator Chris Carter, The X-Files Revival is envisioned as a follow up to the original nine season series and both feature films, with David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi reprising their roles. In addition to the previously mentioned Rhys Darby, guest stars include Joel McHale as Tad O’Malley; The American‘s star Annet Mahendru as Sveta; and iZombie alum Aliza Vellani in an as-yet undisclosed role.
All told, the network has released about 4-5 seconds of footage showing Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny in character as FBI Special Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder as they clear a room, with their government issue flashlights and side-arms drawn.
The short glimpse of the new revival was released towards the back end of a 40 second promo prompting fans to catch up on the original nine season run by watching one episode per day, either via the many available streaming services (including Amazon and Netflix) or DVD, over the next 200+ days, leading up to the premiere of the revival in January. Notably, Fox’s rewatch push does not include the two feature films Fight The Future and I Want To Believe.
