David Baddiel To Front Silk Road Travelogue Series For Discovery

DiscoveryComedian David Baddiel is set to frontline a four-episode travelogue series for Discovery which will see him traversing the most famous trade route in history: The Silk Road.

Titled David Baddiel On The Silk Road, the four part series will follows David on his journey as he hopes to uncover the mysteries behind the 2,000 year old trade route, including the ancient, abandoned mud city of Jiaohe and the story of the Christian monks who smuggled silk worms out of China in their hollow walking sticks.The series will use innovative technology & exclusive research and reveal remarkable locations, mysteries and hidden gems unknown to the western world.

There are some places you can go, some routes you can follow, where history comes alive – where you can genuinely feel what it must have been like for the first people who ever undertook this journey”, said Baddiel. “Travelling The Silk Road is like that, and that’s what makes it so exciting, inspiring and challenging.”

Baddiel On The Silk RoadSet to air on Discovery Channel later this year, the four-parter was commissioned by Discovery’s Head of Production & Development for Factual Elizabeth McIntyre and is being produced by independent production company Pioneer Productions. Tom Gorham will serve as the executive producer for Discovery, while Alice Harper will executive produce for Pioneer Pictures.
