TruTV UK Nabs UK Rights To ‘America’s Got Talent’ In Deal With FMI

America's Got TalentTruTV UK has snapped up the exclusive UK broadcast rights to America’s Got Talent after inking a deal with international distributor FremantleMedia International. The tenth season of the long-running Fox series, which previously aired in the UK on ITV2, will premiere on TruTV UK on Wednesday July 15th at 8pm.

Hosted by Nick Canon, America’s Got Talent is a competition show open to all ages & talents and features a mix of singers, dancers, gymnasts, magicians and comedians perform in front of the all-star judging panel and a live audience for their chance to win a $1 million prize and a coveted headline act on the Las Vegas Strip. The judging panel consists of Mel B, Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum; while guest judges for season 10 include Neil Patrick Harris, Michael Bublé, Piers Morgan and Marlon Wayans.

“We’re delighted that truTV is set to premiere the latest series of the Guinness World Record breaking America’s Got Talent“, said Jamie Lynn, FremantleMedia International’s Executive Vice-President and Head of Sales & Distribution for EMEA. “America’s number one entertainment show continues to captivate US audiences and UK viewers can expect nothing less than addictive viewing as this season’s American hopefuls get set to give a performance of a lifetime.”

TruTV UK has been fairly aggressive in pursuing US unscripted series since their launch back in August 2014. The Turner backed channel previously inked a deal with Passion Distribution for the exclusive rights to RuPaul’s Drag Race, while, owing to the pipeline from the US TruTV network, they also hold the rights to Container Wars, South Beach Tow, Tattoo Nightmares, Ink Master and The Carbonaro Effect.

“America’s Got Talent is pure exhilarating entertainment at its best!  It’s packed full of incredible talent, big personalities and heart-warming stories and the 2015 series is no exception”, added Turner UK’s Director of General Entertainment Steve Hornsey, who brokered the deal with FMI alongside Turner UK’s Acquisitions Manager Sabina McNally. “The Got Talent franchise is loved the world over and is the perfect addition to our growing entertainment line-up on truTV.  We’re thrilled to be bringing America’s Got Talent back to British TV.”
