Gotham has found its next big bad.
James Frain, who is best known for playing Paul Raines on the fourth season of 24 and Thomas Cromwell on the Showtime series The Tudors, has joined the cast of Fox’s Batman prequel as one of two new villains, filling the void left by the departure of Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) in the season one finale. He will be a series regular.
Per Deadline, Frain plays Theo Galavan, a billionaire industrialist who is the saviour that Gotham has been waiting for. His altruism, however, is a front for a centuries-old vendetta, which will sees Theo and his sister Tabitha (better known as Tigress) bring chaos and violence to a new level in Gotham city. The duo of Theo and Tabitha/Tigress will be the main villains in Gotham season 2. Casting for the role of Tabitha is still underway.
Created by Bruno Heller, Gotham examines the early years of James Gordon – who would eventually rise to become the Police Commissioner – in his years as a Gotham City Police Department homicide detective, as well as the early years of Batman and the iconic villains of Gotham City. The drama series is produced by Warner Bros Television and stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor, Zabryna Guevara, Erin Richards, David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova.
