Viacom International Media Networks UK is handing Comedy Central UK boss Jill Offman an expanded role. The exec, who is currently MD of the comedy channel, has been named Managing Director of both Comedy Central UK and MTV UK.
In her new combined role, Jill Offman will lead the programming teams for both channels and be responsible for all their original commissions and acquisitions, as well as research, marketing, communications and creative. She will report to VIMN UK’s Chief Operating Officer James Currell. Offman takes over as head of MTV UK from Kerry Taylor, who was recently promoted to Chief Marketing Officer for Viacom’s portfolio of channels in more than 30 countries.
She will also continue to work closely with Channel 5’s Ben Frow to identify projects which could be co-commissioned and aired on both C5 and either Comedy Central UK or MTV UK. Offman has already been working with Frow on this in her prior role as head of Comedy Central UK, leading to the co-commission of Impractical Jokers UK. In addition to her UK responsibilities, Offman will also have management oversight of both brands in more than 30 countries that form part of VIMN’s pan-regional operations managed out of the UK.
“Jill has given outstanding leadership for Comedy Central, delivering consistently strong share growth and firmly establishing it amongst the very most popular TV channels in the UK with young audiences”, said David Lynn, President of VIMN UK. “Encouraging greater collaboration between our brands will allow them to compete more effectively for the attention of young audiences in a very crowded and fast moving TV market and allow us to identify new creative opportunities both for the brands and the amazing talent, like Jill and Kerry, we employ”.
