David Castro (Red Zone) has joined cast of ABC Family’s Mortal Instruments TV adaptation Shadowhunters in a recurring role. He will play Raphael, an elegantly handsome, well-dressed vampire who aspires to lead the New York vampire clan.
Castro, whose previous TV credits include Summer Camp and Are We There Yet?,is the latest actor to board Shadowhunters. The 10 episode series, which ABC Family picked up straight-to-series back in April, also stars Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Alan Van Sprang as Valentine, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway and Maxim Roy as Jocelyn Fray.
Based on the novel series by Cassandra Clare, Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon. The drama series is being produced by Constantin Film, with Ed Decter and McG serving as executive producers.
