The Good Wife is losing yet another main cast member.
Matthew Goode, who has played Finn Polmar on the CBS series since the show’s fifth season, is exiting The Good Wife ahead of its just ordered seventh season, TVLine reports. While he will not be back as a series regular, the door is being left open for the Downton Abbey alum to return as a guest star.
He is the third main cast member to exit The Good Wife in the past two years. Josh Charles had a famously violent exit from the show halfway through its fifth season, when his character Will Gardner was shot and killed in court by a disturbed client. More recently, Archie Panjabi exited her role as private investigator Kalinda Sharma in the sixth season finale.
Matthew Goode joined The Good Wife just ahead of Josh Charles’ exit, with his character, who as an Assistant States Attorney witnessed Gardner’s murder, recurring throughout the back-end of the fifth season, before subsequently being bumped up to series regular status for season six. Goode’s departure had been hinted at in the finale, when his character Finn turned down an offer to join Alicia’s fledgling law firm as her new partner.
