UPDATE, May 22nd: Syfy UK is tweaking the launch plans for the latest season of Defiance. After previously announcing a June 18th debut, the NBU backed channel has pushed the season 3 premiere back a week to Thursday June 25th at 9pm. No reason was given for the scheduling change
PREVIOUS, May 1st: The third season of Syfy’s drama series Defiance will receive its UK premiere on Syfy UK on Thursday June 18th at 9pm, it has been announced.
Developed for television by Rockne S. O’Bannon, Kevin Murphy & Michael Taylor, Defiance is set in the near future and introduces a world where humans and aliens must learn to live together on an exotic new Earth that has been transformed by alien terra-forming machines. The series follows the residents of town called Defiance as they go about their daily lives in this new world. The drama series is produced by Universal Cable Productions and stars Grant Bowler, Tony Curran, Julie Benz, Jaime Murray, Mia Kirshner and Graham Greene.
The show’s third season opens on the eve of an impending military siege upon the town, which has fallen on hard times following the collapse of its lucrative mines. Their fate uncertain, the townspeople face further threat with the surprise arrival of the mysterious and nearly extinct Omec, an alien race of warriors marked by the decades of subjugation they imposed upon the galaxy in the years preceding the Pale Wars. New cast additions include Lee Tergesen (The Americans), Nichole Galicia (Django Unchained) and Conrad Coates (The Strain).
