The fifth and final season of Strike Back (subtitled Legacy) will receive its UK premiere on Sky1 on Wednesday June 3rd at 9pm, it has been announced.
Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Ryan, Strike Back follows the exploits of Section 20, an elite counterterrorism unit as it spans the globe to stop potential threats, often behind enemy lines. The drama series is produced by Left Bank Pictures in association with BSkyB & HBO/Cinemax and stars Phillip Winchester, Sullivan Stapleton, Robson Green, Michelle Lukes and Milauna Jackson.
Cast additions for the new season include Max Beesley, Michelle Yeoh, Tim McInnerny, Michael McElhatton, Dustin Clare, Will Yun Lee, James Wilby, Adrian Paul, Joseph Gatt, Christian Antidormi, Leo Gregory, Mark Griffin, Wolf Kahler, Andrew Pleavin, Eliza Hope Bennett, Masa Yamaguchi and British mixed martial arts champion and UFC fighter Michael Bisping.
Along with announcing a launch date for the final season, Sky1 has also revealed the first plot details for Section 21’s final mission. Set in Thailand, the new season opens when Chloe, the daughter of British ambassador Robin Foster (McInnerny), is kidnapped. Section 20 are called in and it quickly becomes apparent that they’re dealing with more than a high-profile snatch’n’grab after Chloe falls into the hands of gangster Ray McQueen (Beesley), a puppet whose strings are being pulled by a higher power.
