Numb3rs star Rob Morrow has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s new 10 episode FX series American Crime Story, which focuses on a new “true crime” case each season. Production on the series is presently underway in Los Angeles for an early 2016 premiere.
American Crime Story’s first season, subtitled The People V. O.J. Simpson, will explore the O.J. Simpson trial told from the perspective of the lawyers and how a combination of prosecution confidence, defense wiliness, and the LAPD’s history with the city’s African-American community gave a jury what it needed: reasonable doubt.
Morrow, who is currently starring in History’s five-part/10-hour miniseries Texas Rising, will play The Innocence Project’s Barry Scheck, who, owing to his expertise with DNA testing, was called on to testify by O.J. Simpsons defense team. Deadline first reported the casting news.
He is the latest addition to a cast which also includes John Travolta as Robert Shapiro, Cuba Gooding Jr as O.J. Simpson, David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian, Sarah Paulson as Deputy DA Marcia Clark, Courtney B. Vance as Johnnie Cochran, Selma Blair as Kris Jenner and Bruce Greenwood as Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti.
