Lifetime UK has picked up the exclusive first run UK broadcast rights to Bravo’s reality series The Shah’s of Sunset Boulevard after striking a deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution, TVWise has learned.
Produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions, The Shahs Of Sunset Boulevard follows the lives of six young Persian-American friends in Los Angeles as they try to juggle their active social lives and up-and-coming careers while balancing the demands of their families and traditions. From outings on Rodeo Drive to traditional Persian feasts at home, this series celebrates the unique lifestyle of a group of friends who have worked hard for what they have and are not afraid to flaunt it.
The show has had its fair share of controversy and late last year the post production team from Shahs of Sunset went on strike, picketing the Ryan Seacrest Productions offices in Los Angeles. The post production team was seeking a union contract from RSP and Bravo which would give them health and pension benefits. The strike was eventually resolved, when the post-production team voted to ratify a union agreement.
The Shahs Of Sunset Boulevard is the latest exclusive acquisition for Lifetime UK, who have been fairly aggressive in pursuing first window on both scripted and unscripted series since they launched back in November 2013. The series, which premieres on Wednesday July 1st at 9pm, joins an unscripted slate at Lifetime UK that also includes the Real Housewives franchise and Dance Moms.
