Being Human alum Jon Cor has landed a recurring role on Shadowhunters, ABC Family’s 10 episode drama series which is based on the Mortal Instruments novel series.
Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon.
Jon Cor will play Hodge Starkweather, the weapons trainer at the Shadowhunters New York Institute and a former Circle member. Cor is best known to UK audiences for his series regular turn on Beaver Falls, which lasted a mere two seasons on E4. Other notable TV credits include Suits, Being Erica, Lost Girl and Defiance. He will next be seen in Syfy’s Dark Matter.
Shadowhunters, which is being fast-tracked for a Fall 2015 premiere, has been assembling its cast over the past several weeks. Other cast members include Katherine McNamara as Clary Fray, Dominic Sherwood as Jace Wayland, Alberto Rosende as Simon, Emeraude Toubia as Isabelle Lightwood, Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood, Alan Van Sprang as Valentine, Isaiah Mustafa as Luke Garroway and Maxim Roy as Jocelyn Fray.
The drama series is set up a Constantin Film. The German production company has been attempting to get a TV adaptation of the novel series off the ground since last October, after feature film adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones flopped at the box office. Ed Decter and McG serve as the executive producers on the series. Decter is also the showrunner, while McG will direct the pilot.
