Alberto Rosende (Blue Bloods) and Emeraude Toubia (Cosita Linda) have joined the cast of ABC Family’s 10 episode straight-to-series drama Shadowhunters, which is based on the Mortal Instruments series of YA novels by Cassandra Clare.
Shadowhunters follows 18-year-old Clary Fray, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters – human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend, Simon.
Alberto Rosende has been cast as Simon, Clary Fray’s best friend who is described as being intelligent, very handsome and the first to find humor in any situation. An accounting student by day, Simon spends his free time performing in a band. His loyalty and feelings for Clary are tested as he fights alongside her on an epic journey.
Emeraude Toubia is set as Isabelle Lightwood, an exotic-looking, model-beautiful Shadowhunter. An expert with her whip, she’s as lethal as she is attractive. A trained fighter who can kick-ass in high-heels, Isabelle’s one weakness is her choice in men – always going for the bad boy.
The duo join previously announced main cast member Dominic Sherwood. He plays Jace Wayland, a determined and expert Shadowhunter who is described as being both narcissistic and lethally gorgeous. Casting for the remaining role, including series lead Clary Fray, is still underway.
Shadowhunters landed at ABC Family late last month with a 10 episode straight-to-series order after the project, which is being produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG, had been on the market for the better part of six months (it was initially shopped around at MIPCOM 2014).
