UKTV’s Gold Channel Orders Celebrity Biography Series ‘The Interviews’

Gold - New LogoUKTV’s Gold channel has given the green-light to The Interviews, a six episode biography series which aims to explore the personal and professional lives of a range of celebrities.

The Interviews will be voiced by Dawn French, with each episode focusing on a specific celebrity or pairing. Those celebrities whose lives will be featured in the series include Kenneth Williams, The Two Ronnies, Les Dawson, Oliver Reed, Spike Milligan, and the partnership of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore.

The series, which is being produced by independent production company North One, will delve into the lives of these people through archive footage of their appearances on a number of chat shows, as well as footage from highly personal documentary interviews and radio specials. The executive producers are Iain Coyle and John Quinn.

The greenlight for The Interviews comes as UKTV has been ramping up their investment in original series across a wide range of their channels. For Gold, it follows in the footsteps of recent commission Bob Monkhouse: The Million Joke Man, which is being fronted by Paul O’Grady. Gold is also very active on the scripted side, having ordered a second season of You, Me & Them, with plans to commission five more comedy series.
